The purpose of this article is to answer a very common question:

What Panel Should I buy? and why?

undefined

First, let's start off with a couple of the main differences between security panels:

Hardwired systems:

  • Hardwired systems are great systems and are virtually compatible with any other hardwired sensors.
  • Hardwired systems can replace old hardwired systems with less concern for cross-compatibility.
  • Hardwired systems are very modular systems. They can replace and swap out a lot of components.
  • Hardwired sensors are typically cheaper than wireless ones.

Wireless Systems:

  • Wireless systems are very simple to install, and most of these systems are DIY friendly
  • Wireless sensors don't need any wire running from the system to the sensors
  • Most wireless systems do not have modular panels. Most internal pieces cannot be swapped out.
